After Alexander
This podcast explores what happened after Alexander the Great, with a specific focus on the story of the Seleucids- a dynasty which descended from one of Alexander’s generals and came to rule an empire stretching from Anatolia to India. Join us as we examine the Hellenistic world and watch the shifting Seleucid fortunes through the various highs and lows. I aim to continue the story until the end of the Hellenistic world in 10CE, with bonus topics such as myths, lineages, cities and Romans along the way. Currently covering: The wars of the Diadochoi and the life of Seleucus I (323- 281 BCE).
About the Show
The format for the show will ideally follow every ruler of the Seleucid empire from their accession until their death, with a few divergence episodes covering different topics in between. For example, coming up just before the reign of Antiochus III will be a history of Rome up until the 2nd century BCE.
